Priorities

List of main targets for the program

The FEAMP 2014-2020 OP identifies 6 priorities inspired by a common vision at European level linked to the Europe 2020 Strategy for a smart, sustainable and inclusive growth, to the reform of the Common Fisheries Policy - CFP and to the guidelines of Blue Growth. The expected change, oriented towards a new fishing season, is based on key strategic elements: limiting the impact on the ecosystem and biodiversity; the relevance of the social dimension; being oriented towards innovation and experimentation; supporting the competitiveness of enterprises, in particular SMEs; reviving local communities and making them active participants in every stage of devising and implementation of territorial development strategies.

Priority 1 - Promote environmentally sustainable, resource efficient, innovative, competitive and knowledge-based fisheries.

The total budget between EU share and national resources is €37,.590.890 aimed at achieving the following specific objectives:

1.1 – Redicing the impact of fishing on the marine environment, including eliminating and redicing, as far as possible, unwanted catches;

1.2 - Protection and restoration of biodiversity and aquatic ecosystems;

1.3 - Ensuring a balance between fishing capacity and available fishing opportunities;

1.4 - Strengthening the competitiveness and profitability of fishing enterprises, including the small-scale coastal fleet, and improving safety and working conditions;

1.5 - Support for strengthening technological development and innovation, including increasing energy efficiency and knowledge transfer;

1.6 - Development of vocational training, new professional skills and lifelong learning.

Priority 2 - Fostering environmentally sustainable, resource-efficient, innovative, competitive and knowledge-based aquaculture.

The total budget between EU share and national resources is € 173,627,753 aimed at achieving the following specific objectives:

2.1 - Support for strengthening technological development, innovation and knowledge transfer;

2.2 - Strengthening the competitiveness and profitability of aquaculture enterprises, including improving safety and working conditions, in particular for SMEs;

2.3 - The protection and restoration of aquatic biodiversity and the enhancement of ecosystems hosting aquaculture facilities and the promotion of resource-efficient aquaculture;

2.4 - Promotion of aquaculture with a high level of environmental protection, and promotion of animal health and welfare and public health and safety;

2.5 - Development of vocational training, new professional skills and lifelong learning.

Priority 3 - Promoting the implementation of the Common Fisheries Policy

The total allocation between EU share and national resources is € 121,724,563 aimed at achieving the following specific objectives:

3.1 – Improving and contributing specific knowledge as well as improving data collection and management;

3.2 - Support for monitoring, control and enforcement, strengthening institutional capacity and promoting an efficient public administration without increasing the administrative burden;

Priority 4 - Increasing employment and territorial cohesion

The total allocation between EU share and national resources is € 91.266.155 aimed at achieving the following specific objective:

4.1 - Promoting economic growth and social inclusion and creating jobs and providing support to the employability and mobility of workers in coastal and inland communities dependent on fisheries and aquaculture, including diversification of activities in fisheries and other sectors of the maritime economy.

Priority 5 - Promoting marketing and processing

The total allocation between EU share and national resources is € 152.709.629 aimed at achieving the following specific objectives:

5.1 - Improving the market organization in fishery and aquaculture products;

5.2 – Promoting investments in the processing and marketing sectors.

Priority 6 - Fostering the implementation of the Integrated Maritime Policy (IMP)

The total allocation between EU share and national resources is € 8,891,120 aimed at achieving the following specific objective:,

6.1 – Promoting the implementation of the Integrated Maritime Policy.
